Tiffany’s Hypnobabies Hospital Induction

“I rode those pressure waves (Hypnobabies word for contraction) for 3 hours very comfortably! At 7:30 the nurse checked me and I was already at 7cm. The pressure waves began to pick up! I imagined my Special Safe Place, used the Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and powered through.”

My Hypnobabies birthing story begins April 23rd, my second birth but first using Hypnobabies! My first I was induced, received the epidural and had the worst recovery process I could imagine. Due to the epidural, the day after my first son’s birth I had a horrible spinal headache that lasted a week. Because of this, I decided this time around I had to do something different and stumbled upon Hypnobabies.

Ladies … I was not the perfect student but completely committed, I did the course material, I listened to the tracks, there were times I fell asleep, and there were a few days I missed, my husband was not as supportive with the program as I had seen others be, so I was basically on my own! So, if anyone out there has doubts, YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I was induced for medical reasons, at 38 weeks, at 4:00 am they began my Pitocin nothing else was needed because I was already dilated at 3.5cm. I rode those pressure waves (Hypnobabies word for contraction) for 3 hours very comfortably! At 7:30 the nurse checked me and I was already at 7cm. The pressure waves began to pick up! I imagined my Special Safe Place, used the Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and powered through.

Once I got to 8 cm, the nurses put me on my back with the peanut ball and this is when I fell out of my hypnosis, I couldn’t concentrate. I turned to my husband in a panic, he walked over gave me a pep talk and started rubbing my back (which felt amazing) let me remind you he was not supportive of the class ——until my birthing time. And he was amazing. I was in so much discomfort on my back I asked if I could turn on my side again.photo of new parent skin to skin with newborn after hospital induction

The nurses came in and turned me and I was able to get myself back into hypnosis and focus on my waves. Before the nurses could even leave the room I felt the urge to push and new it was time!! 5 pushes later… My hypno-baby was born at 11:30 am on 4.23.19 without the epidural exactly how I envisioned it would be! My birthing time total was only 7.5 hours. It would not have been possible without Hypnobabies and I am FOREVER grateful for this experience. My recovery has been a breeze compared to my first and I got to enjoy every moment of the experience.
