Thank you Hypnobabies!!! You helped me feel calm and confident during my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) I was able to have the natural birthing experience I imagined, listened to my body, followed what felt right/natural for me and say no thank you confidently. Everyone who hears my birth story is amazed at my experience especially for a first-time mom. I work night shift and started having what I initially thought were practice waves around 4 am and then around 5 noted that they seemed to be coming at regular intervals so started writing down start time and how long they were lasting about 12 minutes 35-50 seconds. I got home from work showered and fell asleep listening to my Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations while my husband tried to track a few more (he said it was tough to tell when I was having a wave vs I just fell asleep).

I slept off and on and would restart the deepening hypnosis track so I could fall back asleep. He came back from work for lunch to check on my and he timed some more and I was still at the same interval I thought ok maybe I should listen to Birthing Day Affirmations so put that on and fell back asleep. He woke me up around 3 because I had to be at my doctor appoint at 4. I went to my doc for my 39-week checkup and found out I was already 5 cm and 90% effaced and was feeling gentle hugs and pressure. After my doctor appt at 4 I went home restarted birthing day affirmations while I grabbed my bag, showered, and sat on my birthing ball while I made my husband finish vacuuming the floors for me since I figured I shouldn’t at that point.

I was sent to the hospital and miscommunication with the doctor in office and doctor at the hospital thought they were inducing, and nurse brought in Pitocin. I was able to confidently say hold on and talk through with the doctor and they respected me saying no thank you. We got to the hospital around 6:30 pm and he immediately put the relaxation music on the speaker out loud in the room while I started my Easy First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) in my headphones, I listened to that while walking the halls using my Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and pausing and deep breathing during a wave (Hypnobabies term for contraction) for about 45 minutes then felt like I should lay down and rest up and save my energy.

I restarted the Easy First Stage track and my husband would use the Relax cue (Hypnobabies cue for deepening hypnosis) when he noticed a wave start and would read scripts to me. He used the Relax cue at the start of each birthing wave moving forward and reminded me of my Bubble of Peace (Hypnobabies tool to keep negativity away) with our baby and encouraging me and telling how great I was doing between waves all this with the relaxation music on in the background. Further along in birthing time at 9 cm waters still intact they offered to break my water twice and again I confidently said no thank you and my body shortly followed. I had restful breaks between birthing waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) during throughout my birthing time including active pushing time.

With the rest I let my body push baby and I told the nurse the baby was coming she was surprised when she checked me and saw babies head! She had to call for extra help and the doctor! With my husband as my only support person he was not able to get over to the tracks to change to play the Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing) during pushing time which led to difficulty maintaining hypnosis during the pushing but in between waves was able to refocus and relax and rest with the relaxation music playing.

The time between my waves had increased which was so wonderful. The doctor and nurses noted multiple times how they loved the music and it was so calm like a spa in my room. Pushing at the end of my waves felt so natural the doctor noted how good I was doing with the controlled crowning which led to minimal tearing. (I had done so many Fear Clearing tracks about tearing). During pushing time I remember saying out loud “Come Out Baby” (I guess I had this track on my mind as well). Baby was born at 10:30p with only 5 or 6 pushing waves.

I felt so good after giving birth even in pictures people wouldn’t believe how great I looked! I credit it to the Hypnobabies program. I already bought the new mom hypnosis bundle and have noticed more confidence and improvement in my mental health, sleeping, and breastfeeding with baby.

Thank you Hypnobabies!
