Natalie’s Amazing, Empowering Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

“My doctor, the resident, and all of the nursing staff were so impressed at how calm and comfortable I was during my entire birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor). They loved the pushing baby out track and said how it even made them feel calm.”

My Wonderful Birthing Time

4:30 a.m. I went for my usual middle of the night pee. Went back to bed and thought…oh my gosh am I peeing myself?! Changed my underwear and it happened again and I knew for a FACT I didn’t pee! I woke my husband up and he got everything loaded while I curled my hair in hopes to get a glamour afterbirth shot . Pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) started and were about 8-10 minutes apart. I listened to my Birthing Time Begins track (Hypnobabies reminder off all the tools and techniques for birthing).

5:30 a.m. we headed into the hospital. My pressure waves were 5-6 minutes apart. I listened to Fear Clearing track (Hypnobabies track to release any fears) on the way in.

6:00 a.m. we arrived at the hospital and got the admission process and paperwork out of the way. The nurse did an initial check, and I was 3cm dilated and my pressure waves were every 2 minutes. I continued my Fear Clearing track during this time. Once finished I started the Easy First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track).

9:30 a.m. pressure waves increased in intensity and I was feeling more pressure in my low back and bottom. They were still 2 minutes apart. The nurse came in and asked if I wanted to be checked again but I elected to wait. I listened to my Deepening Your Hypnosis track (Hypnobabies track to deepen the level of hypnosis) at this time.

11:30 a.m. felt an increase in intensity of my pressure waves again. The nurse came and checked me, and I was 5 cm with the waves coming every 1.5-2 minutes. I converted the bed to a sitting position and leaned on my husband to squat every so often to help my baby make his way down. I listened to my Special Safe Place track.

1:00 p.m. I felt a definite change in the pressure in my bottom. My pressure waves were longer, stronger and becoming more frequent. They were every 1-2 minutes. She checked me and I was 8 cm dilated and 90% effaced. I changed positions and laid on my side with a birthing ball between my legs. My OB/GYN decided to do a C-section in the meantime then come back to check on me. I listened to my Birthing Day Affirmations track. I absolutely loved this track, and it was on replay until I was ready to push.

1:30 p.m. they told me “you will know when you need to push. I promise!” Boy were they right! I looked at my husband and told him “go get them!” The pressure in my bottom was much more intense and my body wanted to push! The nurse came in and checked me. I was fully dilated and effaced with baby being at +2 station. She told me “you can’t push yet because the doctor just started that C-section. However, I will go get a resident in case we need to push. I want you to continue to work through your waves and allow your baby to continue to move down. If you start to feel that you absolutely must push, we will have the residents assist with your baby.” This is the only time I became anxious and slightly panicked. However, my husband put his hand on my forehead and said the Relax cue (Hypnobabies cue to deepen hypnosis) I needed, and I took myself to my Bubble of Peace/Special Safe Place. I immediately came back down and was able to continue to work through waves.

2:00 p.m. my OB/GYN showed up and it was time to push! My baby had made his way down even further since I was able to go through more waves. We took my Air Pods out and put on the Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing).

2:35 p.m. 9 rounds of 3 pushes later Milo Talon made his way into this world weighing 8lb 3oz and 21 inches long. My doctor, the resident, and all of the nursing staff were so impressed at how calm and comfortable I was during my entire birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor). They loved the pushing baby out track and said how it even made them feel calm. I envisioned my waves as a hug and blood pressure cuff, smiled after each one, and told myself I was one step closer to meeting my baby just like this course says too. I did my deep abdominal breathing, hummed, and moaned through my pressure waves as well. My birthing time was such a wonderful experience. My husband was also the most amazing birth partner and used his cues and affirmations to keep me right where I needed to be. My birthing time was amazing, natural and so empowering. I can’t stop talking about it and I owe it all to this wonderful course.
