Hypnobabies® – Natural Childbirth at its best!
At exactly 39 weeks on Feb 5th I went into a work meeting. The day before I had my checkup and was at 3.5. My doctor made a comment that I should consider being induced because my first birth took only 8 hours and I live about an hour away from the hospital. He was worried I wouldn’t make it in time. I smiled and said no thank you. I asked him if he thought I was crazy, and he said yes. He made it very clear I needed to call him with waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) at 10 mins apart and head in as soon as my water breaks.
Fast forward back to my work meeting- I had a very big wave come over me and I excused myself to the bathroom. They were coming and going but I knew I was about an hour from the hospital. I simply called my doctor and said I would head in. I drove myself and my husband met me there. I got into triage and was still at a 3.5 but the baby’s heart rate was dropping with the waves. The doctor was paged and stated I wasn’t leaving but needed to think about Pitocin and AROM (artificial rupture of membranes).
I simply said no thank you for right now, this is at 2 pm and that I wanted to walk around. Triage wouldn’t let me walk around because of the HR of the baby. The doctor called in again asking about my next steps as they were getting my room. He said he wouldn’t birth my baby if I didn’t choose both the Pitocin and AROM because he wasn’t on call. I simply said I don’t care and I would love his associate to help with the birthing.
At 6 pm I walked up to a room and waves started to become consistent and stronger. I agreed to AROM and after much walking around and birth ball and Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing day hypnosis track) track I was at a 6 at 10 PM. New Female doctor was very nice and read through my birth plan and agreed to all of it not giving me any trouble on it. She stated baby was sunny-side up and said I could try the peanut ball to help. I did that for some time and felt baby turn and move down. Things got very intense at this point and I called for the doctor and nurse. I got on all fours in bed as I felt my body and baby pushing on its own. I was ready to birth the baby and after 13 minutes of mother-directed pushing, my beautiful healthy baby boy was born at 12:34 am on 2/6 weighed in at 7 lbs. 9 oz.
