First Time Mom Daryion’s Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

“It was 11:00 pm when we got in bed and I started Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) to help me relax. My waves became much stronger and were 3 minutes apart for an hour. I was in hypnosis and was able to be in bed completely relaxed. At midnight I woke my husband up and decided it was time to head to the hospital.”

Maven Daniel’s Birth Story

Born on Labor Day, September 7th at 4:32 am.

My first baby and first hypno-baby! I started having pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) Saturday night around 9:45 pm. I did not start any tracks or Birthing Day Affirmations because I wasn’t sure if it was my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) or not. When I got into bed that night, I thought I peed my pants but didn’t think much of it. I had consistent waves 7-10 minutes apart throughout the night.

My waves continued Sunday. They were consistent but weren’t getting any closer, so I still wasn’t 100% sure if it was my birthing time. I didn’t want to start listening to Birthing Day Affirmations or my tracks until I knew it was time. Sunday evening, we went for a walk and I felt like I peed my pants again…. that’s when I started to question if my water had actually broken the previous night. My husband thought we should go to the hospital, but I didn’t want to go and get sent home. I had been using a lot of my hypnosis techniques and was still very comfortable and handling my waves very well.

I suggested we try to get some sleep in case it was time. It was 11:00 pm when we got in bed and I started Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) to help me relax. My waves became much stronger and were 3 minutes apart for an hour. I was in hypnosis and was able to be in bed completely relaxed. At midnight I woke my husband up and decided it was time to head to the hospital.

I listened to Easy First Stage all through check in & triage and was still very comfortable. I was dilated to a 5.5 when we checked in. While in triage that is where I was unable to stay in hypnosis through all of the questions. My waves started to get more intense after that and I could not focus and get back into hypnosis. Once we got into our room, I experienced the most discomfort and could not focus. I thought I still had hours to go and didn’t think I could do it. I didn’t realize that I was actually already in transformation (Hypnobabies term for transition)! I was then birthing on the toilet and felt my body start to involuntarily push. My husband asked if I was pushing and if he should get the nurse.

The nurse came running in and they got me to the bed, and I started to push with each wave. They got the on-call resident because they hadn’t called my doctor because they didn’t think I would give birth until the next day. I had the most discomfort from my legs cramping up while pushing. While I wasn’t in hypnosis, I kept directing my hypno-anesthesia to where I needed it. It also helped me to relax and control my breathing between waves. I pushed for about an hour and our baby boy was born naturally at 4:32 am.

It truly was the most empowering experience of my life! I am so happy I was able to have my birthing time at home for so long and was able to avoid any unnecessary interventions and have an unmedicated birth. I am so grateful to Hypnobabies! While I wasn’t able to stay in hypnosis it gave me the tools I needed. I already can’t wait to use Hypnobabies again. 100% would recommend to everyone!!!
