A Professional Hypno-Doula?
It is a wonderful option to have a doula assist you and your Birth Partner at your baby’s birth. She can answer your questions about birth, and can make suggestions about what questions you might want to ask of your care-providers, so that you and your Birth Partner can make informed decisions and advocate for yourself and for your baby.
An experienced birth assistant can help you to make sure your Birth Preferences are honored, and she can be a nurturing presence, that knows so many ways to help during your birthing time.
You need to know that the doula you choose to attend your Hypnobabies birthing can help you best by becoming completely familiar with Hypnobabies philosophy, by learning and using Hypnobabies positive and encouraging language, all the hypnosis techniques, and deepening cue words, etc.
Traditional doulas learn how to support the birthing woman to create coping skills in the moment that are typically physical comfort measures, through changes in positioning, and hasn’t been taught the power of her language to impact birth outcomes.
A Hypno-Doula assists the Hypnobabies mother to beocme much more comfortable by using specific Hypnobabies word cues and physical cues that the mother has trained into her subconscious during her Hypnobabies hypnosis practices. Hypnobabies moms can indeed benefit from position changes, birth balls and walking if they want to, but they will do this to facilitate progress if needed or to encourage your baby to rotate and descend, and not to create comfort. A doula needs to be familiar with the Hypnobabies program, the important, encouraging language used in the program, and all of our hypnosis techniques and cues, along with the Birth Prompts, which are importanat phrases and cues from the hypnosis scripts which help to deepen the mother’s hypnosis, her ability to relax deeply and her comfort level.
Certainly a doula that hasn’t previously been trained in Hypnobabies can be effective, they just need to be educated about hypnosis for birth and be willing to birth-assist a different way. Since all birthing women have different needs, a willingness to learn your Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis language and techniques is the mark of a good doula anyway!
