Sleeping Newborn BabyThis is my second hypno-baby and let me just encourage all the second time mamas out there. I was not consistent listening to my tracks daily leading up to this birth just because of how fast it went, having a two-and-a-half-year-old and just life stuff. I was a little nervous since I didn’t have that much practice but every time I did practice, it felt so good and like I really got it. This birth was so amazing, and our bodies truly know what to do.

On 12/29 I was having really inconsistent pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) throughout the day. Around 6pm They started to be around 12 min apart but not uncomfortable by any means. I was so ready for baby to be here, so I just welcomed each wave and said “Open Open Open” even though I really wasn’t sure if this was birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) or not.

I took a bath after putting toddler to bed and made sure to review birth plan notes with hubby and how to get to the hospital just in case. I fell asleep listening to affirmations.

At 12:30/1am I woke up and the waves were more intense, so I started timing again and we were about 7 min apart. I went ahead and decided to call my parents to come stay with the toddler so we could go to the hospital. I’m glad I did because by 1:30am they were stronger, longer and closer together to the point where I really had to start focusing on turning off my switch. I listened to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) in the car on the way there.

When we got to the hospital at 2:30/3am I was 7cm. I couldn’t believe I was that far along. So, we got to a room by 4am ish and I just did my thing for a bit. Sat on a birthing ball, hands and knees, I started to feel really tired by this point, so I just allowed myself to lay down while listening to Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track for deepening the level of hypnosis). I was worried my progress would stall but I just reminded myself this wasn’t a race and gave my body time to rest. After that waves started to get more intense and my body started pushing a little so they checked me and I was 8cm, which was a little discouraging … maybe that was at 5:30/6am? Totally guessing on time.

I think my water finally broke then during a wave too.

I tried to get up and move around a bit to continue progressing but it felt like too much so I just stood by the bed and my body kept pushing, had some blood, the nurse suspected my cervix was gone now I think he checked again and I was 9… looking back, I’m thinking I was in transformation (Hypnobabies term for transition) at this point. I listened to birthing day affirmations a lot during this time and it was so encouraging.

My body was just pushing by itself. I got on hands and knees on the bed and could feel her start to move so nurse called in everyone.

I just really focused on pushing at this point and visualizing the bright orange ball of hypno-anesthesia out in front of her head as each wave came. Hubby put on Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track for pushing) and they said they could see her head so that was encouraging. Dr wanted me to get on my back, but I didn’t feel like I could do that, so I stood next to the bed. I think I pushed 3-5 more times and she was born. So fast they couldn’t even get pads on the floor I felt bad it was a mess haha I think I only got 10 min into the pushing track before she was born.

I’m so thankful for Hypnobabies empowering me to listen and follow my body’s lead while keeping my mind in a positive place. I couldn’t have asked for a better birth experience and will without a doubt be using it again! Also, this baby was a chunker, 9lbs 5oz and 22 inches long. You are capable mamas!
