The Cascade of Interventions

Flowchart illustrating the cascade of interventions in childbirth, showing how interventions such as continuous fetal monitoring, Pitocin, artificial rupture of membranes, medication, and immobility can lead to additional medical interventions during labor.
Through the full Hypnobabies Program, you become educated about the benefits, risks and alternatives to common birthing interventions. They are called Birthing Choices because consenting to one, or not, is completely your choice. This information is important since in a normal, physiological birth, each intervention can easily cause yet another one. Enjoying an easier, more comfortable birth using hypnosis can become more challenging with each intervention that occurs, and there are often more risks involved for you and baby.

An intervention may be necessary, but we are referring *here* to most births, which when left alone, will progress well without the common, unnecessary, automatic interventions that have become the normal way of “managing” childbirth.

Remember that when you are being proactive about your pregnancy, birthing and baby care choices, there are nice ways to say everything, and being assertive does not mean that one becomes rude or treats medical providers with disrespect. 💕
