“I felt pushing waves starting. I switched the track, but the hormones were making my hands shake and I accidentally picked a random song on our player and started laughing. Yes, laughing during transformation.”
She doesn’t even have a name, but I couldn’t wait to share our amazing Hypnobabies birth!!!
Monday was my guess date, but there were no signs she would be coming soon. Tuesday I noticed my belly would tighten, but there was no pressure or discomfort. I would just notice how firm it felt. Wednesday I noticed my belly would tighten more frequently throughout the day, but since I was so comfortable I was hesitant to call it a pressure wave. By 8 pm it was happening several times an hour.
My husband got home from work at 11:30 pm and I joked he might wake up to a baby. Got in the shower… just in case. Well it took a while to finish my shower since I was having pressure waves every few minutes, but still didn’t think it was my birthing time since I was so comfortable. Well that was 12:15. I started to time them – 4 minutes apart and 30 seconds, so I put on my Hypnobabies hypnosis tracks. By 1 am they were 2 minutes apart and 45 seconds. So we called the sitter and headed to the hospital.
Arrived at 1:40 and I was focused, in center, and ready! But I somehow forgot our birth plan and they didn’t have it on file! So then they started to ask 1,000 questions and I found myself explaining everything I wanted to a nurse who was NOT into it. They checked and I was 7 centimeters and my water was bulging. She couldn’t believe how calm I was. I asked my husband to go home and print a new copy of the birth plan and told myself I could do this!!! Stayed focused, switching from center switch to off and putting my hand up during pressure waves, now every minute. 30 minutes later at 2:30 he was back and we rocked that birth together!
He used the Release cue through each wave, reminded me to relax my hands/feet, and when I started to release energy by roaring he’d say, relax oooooo, say oooooo mouth open.
My OB checked at 3am and I was 10! I had no idea I was that close.
Then I felt pushing waves starting. I switched the track, but the hormones were making my hands shake and I accidentally picked a random song on our player and started laughing. Yes, laughing during transformation. We got the Pushing Baby Out track on as my husband was using all the cues and my OB was supporting my perineum and reminding me to go slow. I felt her go down, back up, down back up and I knew I was in control. 3:34 and she was out!!!! I was laughing, she was alert, and everyone was amazed. I’ve had several nurses comment they’ve never seen anything like it.
