I definitely feel like I did something not very many people do nowadays and it felt amazing knowing I did it all-natural.”

I wanted to share my birth story which actually isn’t very long or detailed haha but it was absolutely amazing and I wanted to share for anyone who might be skeptical of Hypnobabies or questioning whether or not it is working for you.

I started doing the Hypnobabies tracks a little early, 20 weeks, because I am a Type A personality and I wanted to be over-prepared and do it perfectly! Over the 20 weeks, I was not perfect with listening to my tracks but did my best. I fell asleep like 90% of the time though and really questioned whether or not it was going to work for me. When I was awake my body would itch and I felt like ants were crawling around under my skin, the entire time and I had the hardest time staying still. I really struggled with it but continued to just DO IT as they said. As long as I was practicing daily it didn’t matter how I was feeling! I am SOOOO grateful that I did!

On February 11th around 3 am I started having consistent birthing waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) so I turned on my birthing day tracks and started with Your Birthing Time Begins (Hypnobabies reminder of all the tools and cues for comfortable birthing) and Birthing Day Affirmations and would easily breathe through them. They were easy and not uncomfortable at all. I got in the tub around 6 am to see if they would continue. They were hardly strong at all so I convinced myself it was just Braxton Hicks. Around 8 am they stopped so I took a nap! I talked to my midwife right before this and asked her if I should go into the hospital. She said no if you are still talking to me then it isn’t the real thing. I woke back up around 10 am and sat down at the kitchen table to pay some bills and work. When I would stand up I would have more birthing waves but when I would sit back down they would go away. Once again convincing myself because they didn’t hurt at all that it wasn’t the real thing 😂

Around 1 pm I decided I was going to go to the store for some valentines stuff and when I stood up to go the birthing waves came on and were a little more intense (just more pressure) I stopped during each one and just leaned again the wall to relax and breath! Keep in my I was in center switch (Hypnobabies technique for being in hypnosis with eyes open) in hypnosis this whole time since 3 am. I just had my tracks like Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) on my one headphone. I decided maybe I shouldn’t go to the store at this point because I might be in my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor). Good choice might I add.

Around 2:30 I told my husband that I wasn’t quite sure if I was in my birthing time or not but the birthing waves were a little stronger and closer together so maybe we should go to the hospital, to be safe since our hospital was 35 minutes away and this was my first birth so I didn’t really know if I was in my birthing time or not. I used my Relax (Hypnobabies cue to deepen hypnosis), Release (Hypnobabies cue to instantly turn light-switch off) and Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) cues all throughout my birthing time to remain calm and in hypnosis.

The drive to the hospital was probably the most uncomfortable part of my birthing time because I was pretty big anyway and couldn’t get comfortable enough to relax so I was feeling some discomfort but I was also pretty uncomfortable in the car anyways towards the end. I still stayed in hypnosis and breathed through each birthing wave and they were pretty consistent at this point. There was pretty bad traffic and we ended up taking the wrong exit and got stuck in the Phoenix airport loop, haha we (my husband and I) were laughing because it was taking so long to get there and it would be funny if I had him in the car.

When we got to the hospital they checked us in and I waited in Triage for my midwife to get there who was at her office 45 minutes away with traffic. Randomly it only took her 15 minutes because there was nobody on the road coming from where she was, which was so lucky!

When my midwife arrived her and the nurse who was helping us had a bet about how much I was dilated. The nurse said based on how I was acting that her guess was I wasn’t even dilated past a 1 or 2 and she thought they would be sending me home. My midwives guess, because she knew I was doing Hypnobabies was that I was dilated to a 6 or 7. When she checked me I was almost fully dilated, she said past a 9, whatever that means and that we needed to get to the birth room 🙏 I started crying right when they told me because at that moment I knew all of my hard work had paid off and Hypnobabies really does work. Not at any point did I feel like I was too uncomfortable or it was anything that I couldn’t handle, and my tolerance is lowwww for anything uncomfortable! Frankly, I thought what the nurse thought, that I was going to have them check me and I was going to be at a 2 haha

I walked to the birth room arm in arm with my sweetheart while I went through transformation (Hypnobabies word for transition), pausing about every 30 seconds for birthing waves. I calmly just leaned against him and breathed through each one. Happily continuing to walk and talk to him and the nurses between them. The nurses kept laughing and saying “This is not normal”

Once I got to the birth room I sat on the toilet backward to help him come further down into my birth canal. Once I felt the urge to push I got up on the bed and pushed for about 30 minutes and out he came, all 9 pounds and 2 ounces of him and I am a small person. I think I could have breathed through about 5-10 more minutes of birthing waves and shortened my pushing time dramatically but now I know for next time. I think I was just excited and eager to meet him ❤️

The nurses kept telling me how calm and polite I was when I was in transformation and that this is not something that they see very often. I told them all about Hypnobabies and how amazing it obviously is!

If you are worried about it working, I PROMISE, if you practice it definitely works!!!!! I was mentally in control the entire time and it felt so stinking good! I feel like a champ!! I definitely feel like I did something not very many people do nowadays and it felt amazing knowing I did it all-natural. No heplock or IV. No medication. My baby is extremely calm as well and happy and healthy and I attribute that in part to the practice I did during my pregnancy!

I am so grateful for the home study course! It was worth literally every penny!!! I’m also sorry haha this was going to be short but apparently it wasn’t.

Honestly, I just kept using the word relax, peace and release over and over in my mind to keep me calm and in hypnosis and relaxed! I listened to the “easy first stage” one for the majority of the time other than in the beginning when I listened to the affirmations and birthing time begins!
