Nicole’s Wicked Cool Hypnobabies Birth

“She checked me and told me I was a 9! I told her she was lying and after she assured me she wasn’t I stood up and told the whole room I was superwoman and that I was a baby birthing machine. I couldn’t believe I was doing it with such ease.”

At 41 weeks I made the decision to be induced. I was five centimeters dilated on the morning of August 23rd and waited all day to get a room at the hospital to have my water broke. During that day I listened to my fear clearing track and tried to remain relaxed even though I was about to meet my baby!

At 8 pm my midwife broke my water. I didn’t want an IV and she was okay without me having one so I didn’t have one and I was really excited about that. I listened to my Birthing Time Begins track while my husband called his dad to tell him we were having a baby. We got up to walk around a little to get things moving and I then changed to Easy First Stage track. After a few laps in the hallway I felt the baby move down and felt a strong pressure wave and joyfully told my husband the induction had worked and I was pretty sure I was in my active birthing time.

We returned to our room and I got into the bathtub at 9 pm. At this point my pressure waves were strong and I wanted the track loud on a speaker. My midwife came in and couldn’t believe I was already in my birthing time. I told her I was ready to have a baby and he needed to come out! She checked me and I was a 6 and completely effaced. She told me to call my birth photographer and they set up the birth pool. In the bath I made low moaning sounds and said “Ahhhhh” a lot.

Once the pool was set up I got in and loved the water. I wasn’t able to be still like other hypno-moms. I did however keep focusing on the track playing and saying my Peace cue. My husband kept putting his hand on me and saying Relax and Peace. He also told me we were going to meet our baby so soon and that he loved me. At about 10ish my midwife checked me again. I expected to be 6 still as I expected the pressure and overall experience to have more intensity. She checked me and told me I was a 9! I told her she was lying and after she assured me she wasn’t I stood up and told the whole room I was superwoman and that I was a baby birthing machine. I couldn’t believe I was doing it with such ease.

After my speech to everyone my pressure waves moved to pushing waves and every time I had one my whole body would bear down. I reached down and could feel the baby’s head was close. My husband put on the Pushing Baby Out track and what a god send that was. The track gives you suggestions the entire time of things to do. There is no way I would have gotten through this stage without that track.

I had no idea at the time, but apparently the baby’s heart rate was dropping. Instead of alarming me my midwife told me I should get out and pee before the baby comes. It was a struggle but I did. When I stood up a pressure wave brought a burning and stretching sensation to my vagina and I told my midwife “the baby is coming!” She rushed over and somehow got me on the bed. She let me feel his head and I was like “wow dude I can feel it, wicked cool!” I think I was highly hyped up on hormones! After one more push his shoulders came out with best relief at 11:44 pm. My midwife turned him to me and said “do you want to pull your baby out?” And this mama did. I pulled my baby to my chest and cried out “I DID IT!”

I birthed my baby. I did it all naturally in 2.5 hours. It was the single most empowering moment of my life. Every time I talk about my son’s birth a cry because it was more beautiful and amazing than I even planned ❤️

And by the way, my baby was almost 9 pounds!
