Nadia’s Hypnobabies Home Waterbirth

“Hypnobabies was a game changer! I put my headphones in started listening to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing day track) and Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track to deepen the level of hypnosis) and was so focused that at some point I felt discouraged and didn’t think I was progressing. When my midwife checked me (I asked her to) I was at an 8!”

pregnant person in birthing time pushing in tubThis is my 2nd unmedicated birth, but first Hypnobabies home birth! Total success!

I had a great hospital birth with midwives for my first son but wanted to “improve” my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) this time around for our home birth and find ways to concentrate and ride each birthing wave (Hypnobabies term for contractions) rather than feeling like I was just getting through each one.

Hypnobabies was a game changer! I put my headphones in started listening to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing day track) and Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track to deepen the level of hypnosis) and was so focused that at some point I felt discouraged and didn’t think I was progressing. When my midwife checked me (I asked her to) I was at an 8! The hypnosis tracks were so helpful. If anyone needed to talk to me, I would pull one headphone out, hear what they had to say, then quickly put my headphone back in. It helped me relax so much that I was eager to get the headphones back in immediately.Parent sitting in bed with newborn baby

New parent holding newborn with midwives laying next to themMy birthing time had gone so smoothly that I progressed so quickly without even realizing. At one point I wanted to fall asleep in between waves when I was in the bed I will admit that the final stage I didn’t feel as in control but the pushing only lasted 17 minutes. My husband was supposed to be in charge of putting the “Pushing Baby Out” (Hypnobabies track just for pushing) track on the speaker and didn’t get to it in time. The pushing part came so quickly that everyone was trying to help me into my tub (from the shower) and he sort of forgot to get it on the speaker. It wasn’t a big deal, but I think it would have helped me with my breathing. (I tend to breath too quickly)

During the nightly tracks prior to my birthing time, I would “fall asleep” within 10-15 minutes and was worried about how I would do during my birthing time, but I guess I was truly subconsciously listening to it. I know they say that you do when you’re doing the course but it’s hard to know for sure until you go through it yourself. I’m so glad we invested our time into doing the course. Well worth every penny.
