My Wonderful Hypnobabies Hospital Birthing Experience

My Wonderful Hypnobabies Hospital Birthing Experience

“I was so incredibly surprised to be dilated to 7 1/2 centimeters once we got to the hospital! I turned on my Bubble of Peace (Hypnobabies tool to keep negativity away) when the nurses came in and gave me forms to sign. I kept my headphones in the entire time listening to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main hypnosis track for birthing).”

After many interventions and a NICU stay with my first born, I was determined with my second pregnancy for things to go differently.

My midwife recommended I look at Hypnobabies to help me with the emotions I was carrying with me after my first experience.

After all of the prep work and practicing my tracks daily I knew this program was working because I felt ready and prepared. My favorite affirmations were “This is a different baby and a different birth” and “Babies are born on their birthday not when doctors decide”.

Well, my little peanut decides to arrive at 41 + 5 days. My midwives wanted me to have a membrane sweep and schedule an induction once I hit 42 weeks. I knew in my heart I wasn’t going to need the interventions and after beginning some very early birthing waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) on Monday, I naturally felt my waves building late Tuesday night.

I started listening to Birthing Day Affirmations all of Tuesday while I went about my day and rested with Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track to deepen level of hypnosis) and Special Safe Place (Hypnobabies track to help you create and be in a special place with your baby).

Around 10 pm on Tuesday night I told my husband we would need to call our doula in a couple of hours. Meanwhile, I took a bath and then went into the living room and rested with just the Relaxation music track in the background.

I have been throwing up most of this pregnancy (and it was something that happened during my first birthing) but the tracks kept me calm throughout and I made sure to keep hydrating a priority.

Around 2:30 our doula came which was speedier timing because I was needing some physical assistance and she was so helpful to my husband. I found I loved sitting on my birthing ball and having hip squeezes during my waves.

Around 4 in the morning I wanted to go to the hospital because I was feeling like I was having a hard time keeping up with hydrating and wanted to have access to an IV if needed.

I was so incredibly surprised to be dilated to 7 1/2 centimeters once we got to the hospital!

I turned on my Bubble of Peace (Hypnobabies tool to keep negativity away) when the nurses came in and gave me forms to sign. I kept my headphones in the entire time listening to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main hypnosis track for birthing).

At one point I looked at my doula and said, “I feel like I’m struggling mentally” (I did keep having a little voice saying just get an epidural and then another voice would say no just ride through one more wave, you’ve got this). My doula suggested I get checked to see where I was at. (I remember hearing her say to my husband she is in transformation (Hypnobabies word for transition) right now and we are so close which is why she is probably asking.) I was at 9 1/2 centimeters.

My midwife came in and shortly after I said I’m feeling pushy. So, I switched to center (Hypnobabies technique for being able to move, etc. while still deeply in hypnosis) and climbed in the bed, I wanted to lean against the bed in a squaring position. Turned on my Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing) and after about 15-20 minutes and only 10 pushes, I gently eased my baby girl into the world!

Thank you so much to this amazing program for giving me the tools to have a perfectly magical birth. 💜
