Coping with Prodromal ("False") Labor

I am 40wk1d (2nd baby). Last Fri, I had pressure waves that were consistent and seemed to be progressing. I went in for a check and was 4 cm. The dr told me it was time to go to the hospital (I have a history of short labor). My waves increased in intensity for a while, but, I did not progress and I was sent home. I went back to the hospital Tue. They sent me home at 5 cm because I wasn't progressing. The problem I'm having is staying calm. I continue to have waves, with several in a row that feel pretty powerful. Every time I think my birthing time may be starting for real, they taper off. I am getting frustrated and restless and could use some advice!

    Hi Sarah,
Congrats on this pregnancy! I'm sure that your body knows exactly what it's doing. I can imagine it can be frustrating to think that "this is it" and then find out it's not. As a doula, I've seen this pattern before and have heard of it as well. Keep doing your Hypnobabies practice & perhaps do a Fear Clearing specifically around this to help you feel more calm and confident. Think about it positively; look at all this preliminary work your body is already doing for you! Chances are excellent that you are going to be meeting your baby very soon and after all these months, perhaps think about how a few extra days really are just a drop in the bucket.
