Francesca’s 2.5 Hour Hypnobabies Birth Center Waterbirth

“The total time from my water breaking to baby was 45 minutes so I actually slept through most of my birthing time. I didn’t tear at all and my baby was a little over 8lbs. I was so blessed to have the tools and techniques I learned in Hypnobabies and I can’t imagine a better birthing experience!”

I wanted to share my birth story because I’m still a little shocked at how it went! My beautiful baby girl was born last night at 9:02 pm after 2 1/2 hours of birthing time. Around 6:30 I started having waves (Hypnobabies word for contraction) about 50 seconds long every two to four minutes. I could talk through them so I wasn’t too concerned as we had so many false calls. I called our midwife an hour later and she still thought we were away off from anything.

I decided to do my Deepening Your Hypnosis track (Hypnobabies track to deepen level of hypnosis) and get some rest. I slept through most of it with some slight waves. My husband came in and I told him it was fading off. He decided to go work in his office. I finished my track, came out of hypnosis and sat up to go use the restroom. Right after I sat up I had an extremely powerful birthing wave and felt a pop with two more birthing waves one on top of the other.

I then felt leaking and knew my waters had broken. I continued to call for my husband but it was my 3-year-old who came and I told her to go get dad. After the birthing waves subsided I immediately felt like I needed to use the restroom. My husband came in and called the midwife who could tell I was in Transformation (Hypnobabies word for transition). I was able to get to the car and I had my Easy First Stage birthing time track playing although it was difficult because I wasn’t in hypnosis when the track started. The ride was difficult and I was definitely happy to arrive at the birth center. I told the midwife when we got there “I never want to ride in the car again!” At this point, I didn’t want anyone to touch me and I got into the birthing tub. I didn’t quite realize how much my tracks were helping until my earbuds fell out into the tub. This was the only time I felt out of control.

My husband quickly put them back but bumped the iPod and the track stopped. Again, immediate discomfort until my husband put it back on. But it was just the music at first and I remember yelling “fast forward! I need her voice!” My poor husband haha. I felt better when it was back on. Then I immediately felt the need to push. I was able to put my hands down and I guided my baby out. I pushed when I couldn’t help it and when I felt very stretched, I finally pushed her head out and quickly pushed her body as well. I immediately felt amazing! The total time from my water breaking to baby was 45 minutes so I actually slept through most of my birthing time. I didn’t tear at all and my baby was a little over 8lbs. I was so blessed to have the tools and techniques I learned in Hypnobabies and I can’t imagine a better birthing experience!
