“All the while I was listening to my Easy First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) which was one of the most helpful tracks for me along with my boyfriend helping me along with my Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and Relax (cue to deepen hypnosis) and Release (cue to instantly enter hypnosis) cues.”

November 15th my water broke around 8 am. I cleaned up, texted everyone who needed to know, turned on my Come Out Baby (Hypnobabies track to encourage birthing time to begin) and Birthing Day Affirmations and went back to bed. Around 11 am I started getting the birthing waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions), and called my doula Brandi Eversman Hendricks over (they were about 5-7 minutes apart at that point).

All the while I was listening to my Easy First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) which was one of the most helpful tracks for me along with my boyfriend helping me along with my Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and Relax (cue to deepen hypnosis) and Release (cue to instantly enter hypnosis) cues. By the time Brandi got there by around 11:30 they went down to only a couple minutes apart and she was amazing with helping me with my cues and positions!

We then sent the call for my midwife Wantina to head over. Still listening to my Easy First Stage on repeat…She arrived around 12:30 she checked me, and I was already 8 centimeters dilated! Her and her team got everything set up quickly and I got in the tub (at which point I was 10 centimeters), honestly, we weren’t sure if I’d make it in. Luckily it slowed things down a bit and was actually able to take small “naps” in between my birthing/pushing waves.

I believe at this point I switched to my Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing), which was another track that was a favorite of mine and really helped me through my pushing waves. And I listened to that on repeat through the rest of the duration of my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor). Eventually I got out of the tub because I couldn’t get comfortable the way I wanted and went back to the futon because any path that my birthing time takes me is the best path for me and my baby and I’m willing to accept whichever path my birthing time brings me.

If I wasn’t ready for the midwife to check my baby’s heart and where she was, I had no issue saying no thank you or not right now confidently. That’s when they brought out the birthing stool which really worked for me and Nalani. I pushed whenever my body gave me the need to and was VERY vocal the entire time mind you because that’s what has always helped me get through any kind of discomfort, just have to moan and groan it out sometimes, you know? Lol I don’t feel like I was pushing for long, before I knew it she was here  her head came out at 3:50 and the rest followed at 3:51. The beautiful queen was brought earth side at 3:51, 19 inches long, weighing in at 7.14 lbs. No tearing, no complications, an easy birthing it literally went as smoothly as it could have gone.

I want to give a special thanks to my best friend Jackie Shotglass Garcia for being there and the best support! I could see something like midwifery being up your alley  she was amazing, my doula Brandi Hendricks for being such a great guide and positive presence honestly doing a Hypnobabies hypnobirth and listening to the hypnosis tracks did legit WONDERS, Wantina and her team did an absolute fabulous job! And made such a great birthing experience for me, of course my mom for always being there and my backbone David, I’m so lucky to have someone like you by my side. I don’t know what I would have done without you so now without further ado… Miss Nalani Zyaire Jouett
