First Time Mom Rachael’s Home Birth Using Hypnobabies

“We called my midwife and I asked for her to come because I felt the need to push at 8 pm. She arrived at the house at 8:45 and after a few pressure waves and setting some things up, she checked and let me know there was no time in setting up the pool and that Meadow is ready.”

I am a first-time mom and I had planned to do home birth since I found out we were going to have Meadow.

I was 41+2 and I was listening to my Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations every day and using my Bubble of Peace. I had a lot of people messaging and asking me when the baby is coming and always my response was whenever she is ready, I am.

On Sunday October 11th I was feeling a little down because I was given news that if I did not give birth by that Friday, I would have to be transferred and get induced which was not what I would have wanted for Meadow. I called my midwife and asked for her to check for dilation and she offered a membrane sweep. She showed up at noon and I expressed my feelings on being induced and I do have a fear of inducing. But because I was posterior and the cervix was so far back, she couldn’t reach. I was devastated. She gave me courage that day and recommended a castor oil smoothie recipe after she leaves.

She left at 1:30, I made the castor oil smoothie recipe and it tasted really good. I started my pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) at 4 pm and they were 5 minutes apart and lasted for one minute. Around 7 pm I had a feeling during the waves of wanting to push and the waves were 1 minute in between and 3-5 minutes long. My mom and boyfriend helped me time them while I was sitting on the floor in front of my bed. I ate food and drank a lot of water during that time in between pressure waves. I was listening to my Affirmations and using my Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue to remain comfortable throughout my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor).

We called my midwife and I asked for her to come because I felt the need to push at 8 pm. She arrived at the house at 8:45 and after a few pressure waves and setting some things up, she checked and let me know there was no time in setting up the pool and that Meadow is ready. I played Hypnobabies our loud on our stereo the entire time and practiced deep breathing through the pressure waves.

At 2:22 am October 12th, Meadow Anne arrived, and she was so precious. Thank you Hypnobabies for everything and giving me the strength and courage.
