First Time Mom Lauren’s Incredible Hypnobabies Birth

“We left for the birth center around 1:30 pm. I felt calmer in the car and had a feeling the pressure waves were changing to pushing waves. We made it to the birth center at 1:40 pm. I had a feeling I was about ready to push. The midwife checked me, and I was at a 10 +2 and the midwife could feel baby’s head.”

Hypnobabies is incredible. I’m a first-time mom and I had my hypno-birth on April 7th at 38 weeks, 4 days. I had a feeling my baby was going to come a little early and my intuition was right.

Hypnobabies Student in birthing time pushing on her sideAfter having consistent practice waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) Monday and Tuesday and noticing my belly looked very low, I woke up with low cramping and back pressure around 4:22 am on Wednesday. I couldn’t fall back asleep. I got up at 6:00 am and noticed I had my bloody show.

At that point, I told my husband what was going on and then got up, did laundry, dishes, and last-minute prep while listening to my Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations. I took a short bath and realized my pressure waves were consistent. I had a feeling when I started listening to Hypnobabies tracks that I would relax, and things would progress quickly.

I started listening to my tracks like Special Safe Place, Easy Comfortable Childbirth and Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track to deepen the level of hypnosis) and timed my waves from 9:30-11:30 am. They were 5 minutes apart about 1 min each. My husband called the birth center around 11:30 am, they said when the waves were 3-5 mins apart to call back. So, I settled into hypnosis tracks mostly laying on the couch and then on my yoga ball for a bit while my husband rubbed peppermint oil on my back and used the Relax cue to deepen my hypnosis. My waves were 2-3 mins apart around 1:00 and felt more intense. I was using my Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) to direct my hypno-anesthesia. I was still breathing through them and listening to my tracks. I listened to Fear Clearing (Hypnobabies track to release any fear) and then Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing day track). My husband called birth center again and they told us to come. After he hung up, my membranes released, and my waves got much more intense quickly.

We left for the birth center around 1:30 pm. I felt calmer in the car and had a feeling the pressure waves were changing to pushing waves. We made it to the birth center at 1:40 pm. I had a feeling I was about ready to push. The midwife checked me, and I was at a 10 +2 and the midwife could feel baby’s head.

I practically ran upstairs to the birthing room between waves because they were so close together. I rested for a bit and was sleepy in between pushing waves. I was a little fearful of pushing when it started but my midwife helped with suggestions and my husband played the Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing) out loud in the room. It was dark and calm and just the midwife, a nurse, and my husband and me. I tried the birthing stool, standing, and things really got going when I sat on the toilet to push. I moved to the bed and pushed baby out on my hands and knees. The midwife helped pull her out. I got to hold baby immediately and she nursed almost immediately as well. My birth was almost exactly as I envisioned it. So incredibly peaceful.
