Emily’s Perfect Hypnobabies Home Waterbirth

“I listened to Easy First Stage on repeat until it felt like I needed to listen to Pushing Baby Out (Hypnobabies track just for pushing). I didn’t actually feel “pushy” quite yet, but I could tell my body was following the hypnosis track perfectly and it felt right to put on the Pushing Baby Out track. As I suspected, my body followed the track and I was holding Katelyn before it ended!”

This was such a beautiful birth. Eric was able to really focus on me. I felt so connected with him; he used my hypnosis cues perfectly. He seemed to always know when I needed him to say Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort), Relax (Hypnobabies cue to deepen hypnosis or Release (Hypnobabies cue to instantly enter hypnosis). I had the Birthing Affirmations coloring pages hung on the wall. It was nice to be able to look up and see them whenever I felt inclined. They had been on the walls for about a week and helped me prep for the birth.

I had been having birthing waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) randomly throughout the day on June 9, 2020. I wasn’t sure if it was the day since that had happened on other days. However, at 8:45 pm, Eric walked in the door and they became regular enough that I thought I would have her that night!
I told Eric we needed to get the kids to bed right away. They had been at the beach for most of the day and it was pretty smooth getting them to sleep since they were so worn out! (Hallelujah!) I wanted them to sleep through this birth because I wanted to be able to stay focused on my hypnosis and have Eric able to really focus on me. We had a friend, Mandy, ready to come over if we needed her to be with the kids, but they ended up sleeping though the entire birth.

I started out on my birthing ball, listening to Deepening Your Hypnosis (Hypnobabies track for deepening the level of hypnosis), but I only got about 10 minutes in before I knew I needed Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track); so, we switched. I had my light switch in “center” (Hypnobabies technique for eyes-open hypnosis) the entire time I was on the birthing ball. I don’t know how long I stayed there; but when I was ready, I got into the birthing pool. The water was a little too hot, so we put some cool water in, and it felt so good.

While I was in the pool, Eric was on the outside of the pool facing me. He stayed there with his arms around me, saying my hypnosis cues whenever he felt it was right. He was perfectly in tune with what I needed. I asked Eric to get in the pool to press on my lower back after he put the pushing track on for me. It was great because I wanted him to be able to catch our baby when she came out… and he did! That was the first time he was able to catch one of our babies; pretty cool.

I listened to Easy First Stage on repeat until it felt like I needed to listen to Pushing Baby Out (Hypnobabies track just for pushing). I didn’t actually feel “pushy” quite yet, but I could tell my body was following the hypnosis track perfectly and it felt right to put on the Pushing Baby Out track. As I suspected, my body followed the track and I was holding Katelyn before it ended! Birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) was 3 hours! Katelyn was born at 11:41 pm. My last birth was 1 hour, and I know I needed a little more gradual build up than that this time. Both were perfect births and what I needed for each experience.

My midwives came about 10:15. They were so great! They let Eric take the lead in helping me feel good. It was nice to have them there watching and ready if I needed them, but I didn’t need them to do anything… their presence was all we both needed. As my baby came down further, I realized my hips were floating back a little as I leaned on the pool. I straightened out and she came down faster and so smooth. The Pushing Baby Out track was just what I needed. It helped me trust my body (this is my 5th Hypno-baby-all have been amazing births!). I love how that track helped me let go and release my baby into our arms, stay firmly in hypnosis, and feel only powerful pressure and good stretching. I was able to stay positive and peaceful during my birth; especially during pushing.

One of our midwives took a video while I pushed her out. I am so grateful she did! I really wanted it recorded! The other watched and made sure everyone was doing well. Afterwards, they both said our birth was beautiful and commented how Eric and I were totally in our own world and in sync. It really couldn’t have been better for me.

It was a perfect birth for me and my baby. I am grateful for Hypnobabies making these types of births possible for me and other mothers (and for the fathers too!). I know it would have been completely different for me if I hadn’t used Hypnobabies. It has been a huge blessing for me, my husband, and my babies.
