Dania’s Calm Focused Hypnobabies Birth
“I stayed calm and focused and trusted my body to handle the rest. I am so grateful for Hypnobabies and for the tools that gave me the confidence to welcome our son into the world this way.”
We welcomed our second Hypnobabies baby on 12.22.23 and had the most amazing birthing experience! Even though I fell asleep listening to the tracks 90% of the time in the months leading up to our son’s arrival, I think my subconscious mind certainly absorbed the messaging.
On 12/21, I started to experience mild pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) that followed no rhyme or reason and no predictable pattern developed.
On 12/22, I woke up at 4:15 am to pressure waves similar to the day before, but now coming every 8 minutes. I started listening to the birthing day tracks and tried to relax as best I could. By 5, I moved to our bathtub, which brought instant relief. My pressure waves progressed to being about 5 minutes apart, and we decided to leave for the hospital by 6.
We arrived at the hospital by 6:30, and unfortunately stayed in the lobby until about 8. Throughout this time, I had my headphones in and listened to the Easier First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track). I swayed on my birth ball that was propped on a chair, had a blanket over my head, and was able to breathe through the pressure waves. I was so calm that I don’t think the front desk felt there was an urgency to get me into a room until I told my husband that I was close to feeling the urge to push and did not want to give birth in the lobby.
We finally got into a room a little after 8, our doula arrived, we settled in, and when the midwife came in, I was almost fully dilated at 9.5 cm. Not long after, my body felt the urge to push, and our son was born 10 minutes later at 9lbs 10 oz and 21.5”! It all happened so fast that I was not able to fully process what was happening as it all unfolded. I stayed calm and focused and trusted my body to handle the rest.
I am so grateful for Hypnobabies and for the tools that gave me the confidence to welcome our son into the world this way. Thank you! Here’s a picture of my two Hypnobabies.
