“The tracks were then put on the big speaker but honestly, I found myself doing more visualizations through the pressure waves and allowing myself to get really vocal (something I withheld with my first and I feel like it prolonged my birthing) with every pressure wave I said OPEN OPEN OPEN and saw my daughter pushing through my soft cervix.”

Last week I had the most amazing Hypnobabies Home birthing experience I could have ever imagined.

Birthing person in tub holding partner's handBaby girl was born on April 14th at 3:26pm after a whole 2 hours birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor). It was a tough pregnancy in many many ways, but I have to say Hypnobabies gave me the rest and shift in perspective I needed to get through it all.

I was able to start my day on the 14th with Birthing Day affirmations. We had a midwife appointment where there was heavy discussion about possibly ending up in hospital for induction due to sudden increase in protein found in my urine. This is the main thing I wanted to prevent so we opted for the membrane sweep and castor oil. I’m so glad we did! Only moments after the sweep my pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) started to kick in quite closely.

My husband and I drove home, had my mom come pick up our toddler and I drank the castor oil. I decided to crawl into bed until it kicked in and start the Easy First Stage track (Hypnobabies main birthing time track). Soon after the oil kicked in… this was around 1pm. By 1:30 my pressure waves were intense and very close together. My husband called my doula and the home birth midwives and let them know. With how quickly everything was moving, we didn’t know if they’d make it!

I kept the Easy First Stage on my headphones up until probably 2:30 when I couldn’t stand it anymore. The tracks were then put on the big speaker but honestly, I found myself doing more visualizations through the pressure waves and allowing myself to get really vocal (something I withheld with my first and I feel like it prolonged my birthing) with every pressure wave I said OPEN OPEN OPEN and saw my daughter pushing through my soft cervix.New Parent in birth tub holding newborn baby

I didn’t know that birthing could feel so empowering. I continually repeated to myself that I trusted my body’s ability to birth my baby and that birthing my baby is powerful.

With the help of my husband and doula and a group of strong supportive women around me, my baby was born at 3:26pm, no tearing, just amazing!

I didn’t use the hypnosis the way I thought I would, but I know it played a huge role in me being able to visualize, direct my energy and have the home birth I desired. I’m grateful I experienced my first birth without the hypnosis so that I could see how big a difference it could make. I wouldn’t say birthing was painless, it was quite uncomfortable however, the hypnosis helped me roar through it, knowing that I was strong and capable. I’d use the Hypnobabies program again and again if we decide to have more children.
