Casey’s Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

“At 6:00 I was 6cm and feeling great! With each wave, I would shut off, welcome it, say Open and Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort). With each wave, I would also remind myself that I was getting even closer to meeting my baby and that was so motivating.”

My birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor) was everything I wanted! For the last three/four weeks I was very stressed because baby was breech. I had a successful ECV at 39 +5. Exactly one week later she was born! Waves (Hypnobabies word for contraction) started around midnight on April 25. I took a bath around 6 am and waves were about 5 min apart. I got checked at our doctor’s office and was 2cm around 9 am. We went home.

Unfortunately, I could not keep any food down and not really water either. I tried to sleep since I hadn’t the night before. I listened to Birthing Day Affirmations and the Relaxation music track. We went to the hospital around 4 pm. They had me walk around for an hour but I was only 3 cm so they suggested I go home. They gave me some meds so I could sleep and eat without throwing up. I slept well that night and when I woke up at 7 am waves felt different, in a good way.

I was still so tired and just wanted to sleep but I knew I should get moving to keep progressing. It was difficult because I would get sick if I walked too much. I listened to Fear Clearing (Hypnobabies hypnosis track to release any fears) because I realized I was afraid of waves getting more intense and was starting to dread them. After listening twice through my mind completely changed and was positive, welcoming each wave, telling myself to Open, Open, Open.

We went to the hospital around 12:30 because I was afraid of getting too dehydrated. I was 4cm. When we finally got into the birthing room Around 3:00 I was so excited. My doula helped me get into different positions in order to keep things moving. At 6:00 I was 6cm and feeling great! With each wave, I would shut off, welcome it, say Open and Peace (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort). With each wave, I would also remind myself that I was getting even closer to meeting my baby and that was so motivating. I was able to talk to my husband and doula casually in between waves while in center. All while listening to hypnosis tracks.

Eventually, they got more intense and at one point my body just pushed. They checked again and I was 9cm. This was probably 8:00 pm. I stayed on hands and knees for a while then stood up. The nurse said I could really start pushing whenever I wanted. Overall I pushed for an hour but it felt like 20 min. I stood up, squatted, hung from a bar, and eventually pushed baby girl out while squatting/resting on a peanut ball on the floor.

Hypnobabies kept my mind positive throughout the entire process. I also want to add that I am a Christian. Hypnobabies allowed me to connect so deeply with Christ and hear from him that He was giving me the strength during this process. Looking back, my birthing time was technically 36 hours, but listening to the hypnosis tracks that entire time got me into active birthing which was about 9 hours and flew by! Keep going mamas! Trust your body and your baby know just what to do because they really do!!!
