“My body knew exactly how to birth my baby and knew exactly what I needed to do! Seriously so thankful for the Hypnobabies program there’s NO WAY I would have stayed calm and had this amazing birth, even though it didn’t go exactly as I had planned (wanted all natural) it was the perfect birth for me and my baby 🎀💓”

I was 40+ 3 Friday and just decided last minute I was going to do the midwives brew so I went to three stores looking for ingredients. Drank it at 4:45 pm then at 5:45 pressure waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) started coming every 5 minutes, so I just listened to my birthing day affirmations over and over again while sitting at the dining room table getting stuff done. At 8:30 pm I told my doula I was getting tired so I was going to go get some rest as I had gotten super tired.

Listened to my Hypnobabies Fear Clearing Track (Hypnobabies track to release fears) while sleeping and then at 9:30 I had 3 waves lasting 1 min long, I texted my doula and told her it kind of hurts but I wasn’t sure if it was the real deal. Then 5 min later my body just started shaking uncontrollably, I literally couldn’t stop, so it threw me out of hypnosis but I still kept my AirPods playing in my ears! I called for my husband to get me to the bathroom, still shaking, then got into the bath where I was able to finally relax a little.

My doula arrived and said… what’s your body telling you? I said I didn’t want to go to the hospital yet, the plan was to stay home as long as possible. She said from the signs I’m in the active phase, and unless I want to birth my baby at home we should go. My waves at this point were 2-3 min apart. So, we got in the Jeep and went to the hospital, husband putting his hand on my shoulder and saying release (Hypnobabies cue to instantly enter hypnosis) when I was having waves. I got to the hospital around 10:30 am …. and was only 2.5 cm. 😫 I was having CONSISTENT waves that kept getting stronger and I just knew the baby was going to be coming soon. So, we decided to walk the halls… around midnight I felt a pop Then I had another wave on the toilet and I felt a gush. Not a ton of water came out, so I was super confused. Did the next few waves on the birthing ball and my water just started gushing… can’t believe how much water there was!!!!

I declined the cervical check in triage but they admitted me because my water broke. Once all the water was out which took multiple waves, it Got INTENSE … I thought for sure I was in transformation (Hypnobabies word for transition); I could no longer stay relaxed and could barely breathe through the waves… I had declined all checks after my water broke but now I needed to know. She checked me and I was only 3 cm!!! I couldn’t do it anymore, I asked for an epidural. If it wasn’t for my doula I don’t know what I would have done. She kept me calm and focused on my breathing the entire time! I felt so EMPOWERED knowing that It was my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor) and I was in control of every single decision at the hospital!!!

During this whole time, I never took my AirPods out, I listened to Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) over and over again. Epidural was in at 2 pm and less than 1.5 hours later I was complete, husband put on the Pushing Baby Out track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing) out loud and everyone in the room heard it! It made the whole birthing experience relaxing and even the doctor liked it! Only pushed for less than 25 minutes, maybe 15 times … I saved the best birth for last!! 🥰 + I only needed 2 small stitches. My body knew exactly how to birth my baby and knew exactly what I needed to do! Seriously so thankful for the Hypnobabies program there’s NO WAY I would have stayed calm and had this amazing birth, even though it didn’t go exactly as I had planned (wanted all natural) it was the perfect birth for me and my baby 🎀💓

P.S. if you’re on the fence with a doula, DO IT!!! If I would have known how crucial she was I would have had one for my first 2 babies! Huge thank you to Amanda Hallock who played a huge roll in holding my space and helping me have the best birthing experience ever! 😭😍
