Brittany’s Exciting Hypnobabies Waterbirth

“I am so very thankful for the Hypnobabies program. I was very thorough and consistent throughout the program and maintenance. I felt very patient waiting for my baby to arrive (she was born at 41+1). It helped me enter my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor) full of excitement, confidence and a strong will.”

Our birth story began on Tuesday night (Jan 7th). Waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) began early in the evening and continued throughout the night but were mild and inconsistent. I used “Fear Clearing” (Hypnobabies track to release fear) and “Deepening” (Hypnobabies track to deepen the level of hypnosis) tracks throughout the waves turning to my OFF position as each wave began.

Waves ended up fizzling out come morning and I was bummed because I really felt like I had worked hard all night and had nothing to show for it. I listened to the “Joyful Affirmations” track multiple times throughout the day to get back into a positive mindset.

Waves returned Wednesday (Jan 8th) evening around 8 pm. I could tell right away that they were more productive than the previous night so I listened to “Your Birthing Time Begins” and then “Birthing Day Affirmations”.

10 pm my water broke and things started to ramp up so I turned on “Easy First Stage” (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) and made sure to continue using my OFF switch during waves and using my Peace cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort).

Around 1:30 am my waves were 4-5 mins apart so we called our midwives and doula to let them know. And then around 2:30 am we started our drive to the birthing center (30 min drive).

I was VERY anxious for the car ride as I was having strong back sensations during waves and was concerned how I would cope while in the car. I turned on “Fear Clearing” for the drive and found myself using my “Relax” cue (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) out loud during most of the drive. The trip felt very quick.

Arrived at the birthing center just before 3 am. Experienced waves for an hour outside of the tub, then got into the tub around 4 am. I had my headphones on in the tub and continued listening to “Easy First Stage”.

I had been declining all checks but around 5 am my waves were very intense and I was beginning to feel the want/need to bear down so I chose to get checked to see if I could follow my body’s cues and begin pushing. I was checked and my midwife said I was a very soft 8 and if I was feeling the need to lean in and push to listen to my body and go for it.

The want to push overcame my mind and I didn’t even think to tell my doula/husband, etc. to put on the “Pushing Baby Out” track (Hypnobabies track just for pushing). Which honestly turned out wonderful. My doula was the absolute BEST and knew exactly what I needed to hear in the moment and I couldn’t have overcome this phase without her.
After just 11 mins of pushing baby Payton was born by water birth which had been my dream all pregnancy.
