Bekah’s 2nd Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

“I kept thinking about how close I was to meeting the baby. After only 20 minutes, I knew he was coming. I moved to the bed and went to side-laying position (note: I felt much more descent while on all fours)- and using my pressure waves- he was out in three breaths.”

New parent skin to skin with newborn and smiling at cameraDuring the day, I felt tightening in the front and my low back was very uncomfortable. I really tried to tune in with my body, and I told my husband, I think today will be the day. I still felt great, aside from my back feeling needing adjusted. I stayed active all morning, and then come afternoon, I spent time doing yoga, leaning over my birthing ball, all the while listening to Hypnobabies tracks (mainly Fear Clearing, Deepening, and affirmations.)

Come nighttime, I decided I would shower and then get as much sleep as I could.

As soon as I got into the shower, I heard a “pop” and felt my body sending my water out.

I got dressed and we left for the hospital as my previous birth happened very quickly.

I listened to Hypnobabies tracks (Easier First Stage – Hypnobabies main birthing day track) in the car feeling my first pressure wave (Hypnobabies term for contractions). Even after being admitted, I could breathe very easily through each one and smile and talk right after it passed.

I knelt at the bottom of the bed with my knees on a pad, knees spread. As the waves got more intense, I kept my jaw loose and would repeat “Relax” (Hypnobabies cue to deepen hypnosis) in my mind. I did get to a point where I was losing focus and could not stay in hypnosis – looking back, I was in Transformation (Hypnobabies term for transition). I got in the shower and would count to 12 riding each wave- determined to lean into it. I kept thinking about how close I was to meeting the baby. After only 20 minutes, I knew he was coming. I moved to the bed and went to side-laying position (note: I felt much more descent while on all fours)- and using my pressure waves- he was out in three breaths.

The hospital staff kept saying how impressed they were with the feeling of our room (dim lights, diffuser, Hypnobabies and music)

Although I feel I could have spent more time in maintenance preparation, I am so thankful for the training and course to keep centered and focused.
