Ariell’s Healing Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

Ariell’s Healing Hypnobabies Hospital Birth

“We arrived at the hospital at 10 pm and my son was born at 1:50 am. One thing I struggled with during previous births was bearing down and tensing up during my waves in transformation. Hypnobabies cues was exactly what I needed to breathe and relax through each wave.”

Just wanted to jump on here and send a little encouragement to anyone who might be doubting their ability to do this or questioning if this works. I will be the first to say that I’m naturally a more anxious person. My anxiety and fear kept me from having med free previous births and also left me with PPD/PPA with my second. For my 3rd I was desperate to not have the same experience and began the search for something to help me. I found hypnobirthing and took the plunge to start the Hypnobabies online course to equip me with coping strategies.

Many times, I felt like I was lying to myself through the affirmations and began falling asleep regularly through the tracks towards the end of my pregnancy. I had weeks when I felt like I for sure could do it then days when I randomly felt doubtful, but I pressed on anyways. It was finally my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) and I immediately began listening to my Birthing Day Affirmations during early birthing time at home (roughly 8 pm). Once the waves became 8 mins apart I decided to go to the hospital because my second came very fast and I wanted time to settle in and get into the right headspace (was hard for me at home with two toddlers lol).

We arrived at the hospital at 10 pm and my son was born at 1:50 am. One thing I struggled with during previous births was bearing down and tensing up during my waves in transformation. Hypnobabies cues was exactly what I needed to breathe and relax through each wave. I used the birth tub and shower on my back through transformation (Hypnobabies word for transition) which felt amazing! The water was pretty hot. Surprisingly, I didn’t really listen to any deeper hypnosis tracks through my birthing time. I mainly stuck with the affirmations and through transformation I listened to two songs I love and repeated my cues at the start of each wave.

The only time I lost hypnosis was during pushing. I couldn’t hear my track that was playing aloud. I wish I would have kept one earphone in. Also, I was directed to push which I believe really messed up my hypnosis. I recommend discussing mother directed pushing with your midwife or OB which I failed to do prior to the birth but will do if I ever have another baby. My husband got to “catch” our son as he was born which I love. All in all, I did it and I stayed calm all through transformation which makes me so proud. I never felt out of control which was a fear I focused on clearing throughout my entire pregnancy. My son was a whopping 9lbs 15oz and is just so precious. Having a hypno-birth has made me feel extremely empowered and like I can do anything. I’m absolutely so grateful for it as it has been such a healing experience for me mentally and emotionally.
