Early: I went into my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor) first thing in the morning and had my birthing time at home in bed for about 3 hours. When we were getting ready to go to the birth center to have them check me and baby’s position (she had been going back and forth from transverse to head down the last month), she was head down and I was 1cm. I had slow-paced birthing time at home the rest of the day with birthing waves (Hypnobabies word for contractions) about 10-15 min apart. I even got a massage and adjustment!

Active w/ Midwife: Around dinner time, I was laying on the couch watching a movie and my waters released all at one time! It took about 5 minutes to pass all of my fluids in the shower. After that my waves were 1-2 minutes apart and I started to use my tracks and hypnosis visualizations and cues. Once at the birth center, my midwife determined that she had rotated at some point into a transverse position and I had no amniotic fluid left in which to move her. We went to the hospital. By the time we got there, I was using vocalizations of “Peace” (Hypnobabies cue for instant physical comfort) and “Relax” (Hypnobabies cue to deepen hypnosis) to cope with waves and discomfort. I continued listening to Birthing Day Affirmations and Easy First Stage (Hypnobabies main birthing time track) and I was able to keep my peace and calm and confidence and sense of humor even throughout this situation. Practicing acceptance and faith.

Active w/ Doctor: When we met with the doctor, she had somehow made her way all the way into frank breech position and had settled herself right into my pelvis. With no fluids left, I tried to ask them to do an ECV with an epidural, but I had progressed too far and there was no chance of that being an option. I was able to use my hypnosis tools to grieve the loss of my birthing plan, work through the emotion, accept my situation, keep my faith and peace, cope with my extremely powerful waves, and even keep my sense of humor between waves. I was cracking everyone up! Including myself! This is something I learned about myself and my resilience.

Cesarean: I have never been so brave and experienced grace as much in my entire life. Hypnobabies prepared me to soar through the biggest challenge of my life in which I allowed my doctor to save the life of myself and my baby and come out the other side peaceful, gracious, courageous, transformed. And not at all traumatized.

Thank you Hypnobabies!!!!!!!!!!!
