“I started to have pressure waves that felt like pushing around 20h50 and my water broke while standing at around 21h. Got on my hands and knees and my body pushed my baby out perfectly at 21h06. My big boy was perfect!

I have the great pleasure to present you Olivier Hamel born the 3rd of July 21h06 at 9.5lbs and 21in! I was at 40+2 weeks.

I had premature pressure waves (Hypnobabies word for contraction) 5 min apart that had me on bed rest from 35 to 37 weeks and then they slowed down when I was able to move again. However, during the night, I would have practice waves where I thought this is the night and would put my birthing time (Hypnobabies word for labor) tracks on…but they would always stop at around 4 am. I was starting to get tired since this is our 4th child (and our 3rd hypno-baby!). But for the first time, we had a midwife and were going for a home birth 🙂

On my birthing day, I had practice waves, as I was getting used to having and didn’t think much of them so I kept playing and dancing with the kids during the evening. The waves were getting a little more intense but I did not think my birthing time was near because of all the previous weeks. That was a mistake and I should have started my hypnosis tracks sooner!

I helped my husband put the kids to sleep and told him it was getting more intense so he strongly advised I call my midwife even if I would have waited longer to not bother her for nothing…I’m glad he did but you know…I didn’t think it was the real deal yet! I did not time my pressure waves but when I called the midwife at 19h30 I was about 2min apart 30-40sec each wave. Hubby prepared our room and I started my birthing tracks (Easy First Stage and Birthing Day Affirmations). I put myself in center and this is when I knew I waited too long to put my tracks. It was more difficult to stay focused and in hypnosis than my 2 other hypnobirths…maybe that my boy kept crying and did not want to go to sleep did not help lol!

I kept moving a lot since my baby was posterior and wanted him to turn anterior. I started to have pressure waves that felt like pushing around 20h50 and my water broke while standing at around 21h. Got on my hands and knees and my body pushed my baby out perfectly at 21h06. My big boy was perfect!

Love my Hypnobabies!!! Here he is at 1hr of life 🙂
