Hypnobabies is a 6 week *complete childbirth education course* using Gerald Kein's Painless Childbirth techniques instead of simple relaxation, breathing or guided imagery. We use our Hypnobabies Workbook, CDs and hypnosis scripts to train the inner mind that contractions in labor will be felt only as pressure, pushing, pulling and baby movement sensations. Hypnobabies uses the same kind of hypnosis techniques that people employ when preparing for surgery without any medication, which is called hypno-anesthesia. Our classes also teach the Hypnobabies Birth Partners how to fully support our Hypno-moms, although Hypnobabies can also be used very successfully by single mothers. Although not every woman will have a completely pain-free unmedicated birthing experience, all of them will have a much easier and more comfortable birth by using Hypnobabies, which is a great gift for our Hypno-Moms, their Birth Partners and their Hypno-babies.

I am "Mom" to four amazing grownups, and "Grammy" to three stinkin' cute grandkidlets. I birthed all four of my kids naturally (I wish there had been Hypnobabies in the olden days!). My first baby was born in a hospital, the second in a birthing center, and my last two were born at home with midwives.
In the 80's, I taught preparation for childbirth classes to many hundreds of couples. At that time, I was also a midwife/birth assistant to a doctor who operated his own birth center and attended home births as well. Then in 2002, I was privileged to be the doula for my first Hypnobabies couple, and I witnessed first-hand a mom using hypnosis and actually enjoying her baby's birth! I immediately became a Hypnobabies childbirth hypnosis instructor, and a "hypno-doula."
I am also a hypnotherapist, and a lactation educator. I am certified in "CPR for the Professional Rescuer", and in "Neonatal Resuscitation", and I am a homeopathy consultant, a Reiki practitioner, and I teach "The Happiest Baby on the Block".
I DO love my "work!" I am in awe each and every time I witness the power of a woman's mind to create such peaceful, comfortable birthings.

I feel truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to be of service to women. I believe that every woman deserves to experience a peaceful, calm and tranquil birth. To be able to remind women of the wisdom of their body so that they can do what women’s bodies have been doing since time began…that is my greatest privilege.
I have been a labor and delivery nurse and Saddleback Memorial Women’s Hospital in Laguna Hills, CA for 8 wonderful years, and a postpartum nurse for 2yrs. I have had an opportunity to be a part of birthing in as many ways as one can birth. Hypnobabies is the only birthing method that I know works. It is why I decided to become an instructor. I never felt like I could comfortably teach any other method of birthing. You must believe whole heartedly in what you are teaching, and I do.
I am the “go to girl” on our unit when it comes to Hypnobabies. I am the resident liaison between the Hypnobabies community and the medical community that I work very closely with. I have opened a lot of minds and hearts to the wonderful world of birthing the Hypnobabies way. I introduced one of the largest OBGYN practices in Southern Orange County, CA to Hypnobabies. Not only do I teach Hypnobabies, I am personally a Hypnobabies mama! I was the world’s biggest skeptic before I randomly signed up for a Hypno-Doula course, in an effort to “appeal to a wider audience” as a certified birth doula. It was here that I realized this hypno stuff wasn’t as crazy as I’d imagined…in fact it made a whole lot of sense! In the winter of 2008, I attended my first homebirth with my sister who is a midwife. Being very interested in natural childbirth already, this experience ignited a fire inside me to begin helping women myself! Immediately after I attended the birth I went home and signed up for doula courses. At my doula training/certification I was introduced to Hypnobabies. So many women in my class were praising Hypnobabies and hypnosis for pregnancy and childbirth. With all of these praises for Hypnobabies I just had to get my certification to teach it and reach out to even more families.
My mission as a Hypnobabies instructor and doula is to be an advocate for pregnant women all over the world. I will help prepare a woman and her partner for this next stage of their lives, and to teach women that birth does not have to be painful. With education and hypnosis techniques, I will show each Hypno-family how to make their "birthing time" a powerful and positive life changing experience. I am a certified Hypnobabies Instructor and Doula in Training and very passionate about educating women and their partners about all things baby related. I began my journey in earnest about 3 years ago after I conceived my son. While researching all of my options, I realized that there were no Hypnobabies instructors in my area. I used hypnosis for my birth and was very satisfied with the whole process. After my son was born though, I was determined to bring Hypnobabies to the Atlanta area and to share all of the knowledge that I have learned with my fellow southerners. I firmly believe that our bodies know exactly what to do and that if anything; it is our minds that get in the way (often without our knowing.) I want to teach and empower women to know that they can have the birth they always wanted without the pain they thought went with it.
I realized my calling when I experienced the beauty of life through my own pregnancies, labor, birth and mothering. After 3 less than good birthing experiences I decided there had to be a better way. When I got pregnant with baby #4 I did some serious research, which is when I found Hypnobabies. I first attended births in my late teens and early twenties; with neither official title nor duties, I simply offered support in an intuitive and common sense fashion. Since then I have continued to develop skills that are supportive to women in the birthing year. I am very passionate about Hypnobabies because it isNatural Childbirth at it's best. I uses Hypnobabies to prepare for my second birth after having a traditional hospital birth for my first. Just a short time after giving birth, easily, comfortably, and completely natural, I knew I was going to share and teach Hypnobabies to as many women as I could. It is the best gift for any mother and her baby.
I assisted at my first birth (at the age of three) at my baby brother's homebirth. I have been hooked on pregnancy birth ever since, even sculpting the human uterus and developing baby in the 3 trimesters of pregnancy in my 7th grade pottery class!
My first pregnancy and lovely unmedicated birth (assisted by my doula mom and fabulous husband) cemented my calling as a birthing professional. I am now a DONA-certified birth doula, a certified Hypnobabies childbirth hypnosis instructor and hypno-doula, and president of the Central Oregon Birth Network. As a doula and certified childbirth educator (I have taught other natural childbirth classes), I helped my students and clients achieve the natural births they desired. I always felt that there had to be something MORE I could teach them to help them have even better experiences, some missing piece… and I am fully convinced that Hypnobabies is the answer! I love to educate and empower and nurture pregnant women and their families. I am honored to be the first person to bring Hypnobabies to Central Oregon. Working with pregnant and birthing women and their families is my passion!

Please register in advance because classes fill quickly! I will open additional classes if the first class is filled and there is still a need. Please do not let scheduling conflicts keep you from enjoying your birthing time with comfort and joy! Note: I will be on maternity leave in the early fall of '08. However, if there is a lot of interest for summer classes I will consider an additional Thursday or Saturday class from early-August to mid-September '08.

My personal birth philosophy is that a woman should dream and plan for a pregnancy and birth that is healthy, comfortable, peaceful and easy. She should find herself surrounded by love and support. When her birthing time comes, she should be free to follow her body's instinct, uninhibited by technology or other outside influence. Parents deserve the support and information they need to make the important decisions regarding their baby's birth. When they get this information, they feel empowered and confident in their choices.

I have been active in the Erie birth community since 2004, first as a childbirth educator in private practice, then as a doula, and now as a Certified Hypnobabies Instructor.In addition to Hypnobabies classes, I continue to teach a prepared childbirth class and provide doula services.

As a biologist I have always understood the process of birth as something very natural we are all well prepared to do. As a human being, I have been able to see the power of the mind in action. As an early childhood educator, I understand the necessity of raising our children as sensible and well balanced human beings early on in life. This should all be introduced from life’s first major lesson, birth. Through Hypnobabies, I have had the opportunity of seeing all these aspects working together in harmony and achieving wonders for the families, mothers and babies of those who have believed in the power of their minds through this incredibly empowering complete childbirth education course.We should start working together to provide children all over the world with the most valuable gift possible for their life from the very first moment; that of a peaceful birth that would ensure a healthy start not only psychologically, but physiologically as well. It is the belief of many child brain developmentalists that the simplicity of a peaceful natural birth could represent a great difference toward the achievement of humans’ greatest potentials.
As a woman I have been given the opportunity to witness some incredible birthing experiences and believed they were powerful enough to encourage me in becoming an instructor of such an amazing life tool. My own pregnancy and birth was an incredible time of empowerment as I navigated the many decisions and choices available to expectant families. Following my daughter's birth, I knew I wanted to be a part of serving other women during their birthing times. I have been a midwife for over 25 years and have been part of many different birth experiences. When I attended a client that had a completely comfortable birth using Hypnobabies, I became interested in learning more. I took the Hypnobabies Instructor Training course in 2008.
Birth Wellness and Women’s Center (also our home) is a center for pregnancy and childbirth activities. I teach Hypnobabies classes and offer complete prenatal and birth services. Families may choose to give birth in their own home or in ours. Our homeis available for home birth families once the birthing process has begun. We have a beautiful birthing room and water birth tub with hand-held sprayers and unlimited hot water. Water is a well known, effective tool for birth without the side effects of drugs.

My desire to teach Hypnobabies came after having my son Liam in October 2007.I had a wonderful birthing experience, birthing him in my midwife's home in a large tub surrounded by peaceful music and supportive people.His birth changed my perspective on myself and I felt empowered by the birthing experience.I want other women to feel what I felt and after doing some research, I believe that the Hypnobabies childbirth program will help women have an amazing experience, gently and confidently.
